This Won't Hurt Much, Did It?

The bunny-hop from Substack to Ghost has happened. It wasn’t too bad, right? It was like falling asleep on a train, then waking up at your destination. Which may mean that your arm is asleep and your phone needs charging. There may be some hiccups here and there. The quicker I learn about them, the better. So let me know if anything is weird in the comments, or on Bluesky @MikeTanier.bsky.social, or through any other channels.

We are now on Ghost. Hopefully not the ghost in the image above. That dude was problematic. He actually would have fit in rather well on the old platform. (Seriously, go watch The Ghost and Mrs. Muir and tell me it isn't some creepy negging handbook.) This particular Ghost promises to remain largely invisible.

I will be ironing out some kinks over the next few weeks. Jerry Wolper and I have not ironed out how copy editing works, so you may see more of the secret shame of my spelling for a while. A few of your subscriptions might not have ported properly, because Substack has some stealthy terms-and-conditions that cannot always be circumvented easily. And I am learning a new formatting system, so heaven help us all. Again: if you see something, say something.

Thank you all for your overall support and encouragement during the move. Moving is scary. I've had to jump too many ships in the last six years. Knowing that so many of you understood my motives and are willing to keep jumping with me means a lot. Some of you might save a little money as a result of all of this. It's a win-win.

I am now going to drop a paywall. There won't be anything interesting after the paywall. I just want to practice doing it and give paid subscribers a chance to see if their paid subscription is working. Here goes.
