Kenneth Walker ran away with the MVP award. The “Dark Side” defense hit the Patriots with the anti-life equation. Sam Darnold redefined the quarterback redemption arc.

The Seahawks won Super Bowl LX, ending the 2025 season as one of the greatest teams in NFL history according to the analytics.

Never has a team so outstanding been anticipated — and appreciated — by so few.

Super Bowl LX Spotlight: Seattle Seahawks 29, New England Patriots 13

What Happened:

First Quarter

Blitzes, blitzes and more blitzes! Seahawks blitzes. Patriots blitzes. Cornerback blitzes. Double linebacker B-gap blitzes. Sacks. Throwaways.

The Seahawks took a 3-0 lead thanks to a Cooper Kupp catch along the left sideline that probably would have been overturned if the Patriots threw a challenge flag.

Second Quarter

Kenneth Walker grabbed the game controller and started stringing together combo moves. Two nifty runs for 59 yards set up a Jason Myers field goal early in the half.

Sam Darnold, skittering away from pass rushers, distributed short passes to Kupp and backup running back George Holani late in the quarter. Christian Gonzalez nearly picked Darnold off at the goal line in the waning seconds, but another Myers field goal gave the Seahawks a 9-0 halftime lead.

Maye was just 6-of-11 for 48 yards at halftime, perhaps because rookie offensive linemen Will Campbell and Jared Wilson kept getting shopping-carted straight into his belly. Like this:

Halftime Show

Bad Bunny, along with special guests Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga, performed a delightful medley of upbeat songs to choreography that reminded me of the type of party that I wasn’t cool enough to get invited to when I was 23, or a wedding where I get stuck at the aunts-and-uncles table and am responsible for driving grandmom home.

Third Quarter

Sam Darnold displayed the grace under pressure for which he has long been renowned (wink) on the opening Seahawks series. He fired a fastball under duress over the middle to Rashid Shaheed. He connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba (who later entered concussion protocol) on a quick slant. He scrambled away from danger and knifed upfield for an 11-yard gain. He found Walker on a well-designed screen. But Jaylinn Hawkins forced an errant throw with a safety blitz on third-and-9, forcing yet another Seahawks field goal.

Both defenses played three-and-out ping-pong for the rest of the quarter. Vrabel punted on fourth-and-1 from the Patriots’ 41-yard line, and the probability bots got so mad that they nearly went full Skynet.
